Sometimes the most beautiful interior design details are hidden where you'd least expect them.

This project started with a historic pattern discovered on the wall of the boys' restroom at the Tartu Toy Museum. Instead of letting it disappear during renovation, we carefully digitised it and transformed it into a reusable stencil so it could live on throughout the museum.

Today, the same pattern welcomes thousands of visitors in the museum foyer and café.

One of the things I love most about stencil design is that it gives complete creative freedom. Unlike wallpaper, you can choose any paint colour for both the background and the pattern, creating a finish that fits the interior perfectly. And because it's painted directly onto the wall, it's also a durable alternative for many spaces.

Projects like this remind me that great design isn't always about creating something new. Sometimes it's about preserving a story worth telling.
