Básicamente, el boxeador debe golpear siempre son los puños y en la parte delantera y superior de su oponente. No están permitidos los golpes por debajo de la cintura, a los riñones ni en la parte posterior de la cabeza; tampoco con la palma de la mano, codos, hombros, antebrazos, rodillas, piernas o pies.
