Happy Father’s Day to all good dads out there. We all do this father thing to the best of our abilities. There are no manuals for this invaluable task we do. We’re all learning as we go because each individual young person we’re raising is a unique world of their own. I take joy and pride in what I do as a father to Miles as part of the legacy left by my father. He wasn’t perfect either, but he was an amazing father and human being that I truly miss every single day for the past 559 days. I cherish the memories of the times spent with him. From teaching me how to swim in Cabrera, Nagua (DR) to that day when he stopped working and played baseball in the streets with me and all my friends to the countless hrs talking to the hugs to the sacrifices made that I got to understand after having my own kid.

In his honor I released “Sketches For My Father, Pancho, Pt. 1 - Capacho” as part of my new series of EPs dedicated to him.

The EP is little over 10 minutes total. 4 songs; 4 versions of Capacho. 10/4 was his birthday.

Original song’s tempo is 104 (10/4).
Second version tempo is 79 (his age when he passed).
Third version tempo is 124 (12/4 the day he passed).
Fourth version is the original tempo, 104 (10/4).

So there is a method to my madness. Although I messed up the release date, I’m glad it still came out for Father’s Day, as intended.

In the song my dad talks briefly about Capacho, his favorite creek as a kid and where he asked for part of his ashes to be thrown at. It’s actually a funny anecdote from his childhood.
