Last night I concluded a very productive meeting at the Fort Young Hotel in Dominica, followed by an unexpected but delightful opportunity to attend the Managers’ Cocktail Party.
The evening provided a wonderful setting for networking, meaningful conversations, and connecting with visitors from America who were experiencing the exceptional diving that Dominica is renowned for.
Alongside excellent hospitality, delicious food, and a refreshing rum punch, it was a reminder that some of the most valuable professional connections are often made in relaxed and informal settings.
My thanks to the Fort Young Hotel team, the Managers, and the talented Chef for such a warm and memorable experience.
Business opportunities and meaningful relationships often happen in the most unexpected moments, sometimes you are simply in the right place at the right time.

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of attending an Afro-Caribbean Fashion Extravaganza that was nothing short of inspiring! 🌟
Having observed this designer’s journey over the past five years, I’ve witnessed a powerful evolution, from promise to undeniable creative excellence. What unfolded on the runway was more than fashion; it was a masterclass in vision, courage, and growth. 🌱
The evening brought together fashion, creativity, beauty, and music in a way that reminded me of a core truth in leadership and entrepreneurship:
✨ Success is rarely instant, it is built through consistency, reinvention, and the willingness to keep showing up.
As leaders and entrepreneurs, there is so much we can learn from the creative industries:
• The courage to innovate
• The discipline to refine your craft
• The resilience to grow through every stage
This was not just an event, it was a powerful reflection of what happens when passion meets persistence.

Last week I had the privilege of attending a regional workshop in Barbados on behalf of Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC)
and what an inspiring two days it was!
Held at the United Nations offices and hosted in partnership with United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and CARICHAM: The Network of Caribbean Chambers of Commerce, the workshop focused on strengthening private sector engagement in early warning systems and disaster resilience across the Caribbean.
What really stood out for me was this:
the private sector is no longer just a stakeholder, we are a partner in building resilience. From business continuity planning to resilient supply chains and public/private collaboration, the opportunities for meaningful engagement are huge, especially for small island states like ours.
I also had the chance to connect with inspiring leaders and representatives from across the region, and those conversations alone made the trip worthwhile. It’s always powerful to see Caribbean businesses coming together to share ideas, challenges and solutions.
I’m returning to Dominica 🇩🇲 with fresh insights, new connections, and a much clearer understanding of how we can strengthen private sector involvement going forward. 💡
Looking forward to continuing the conversation and turning these ideas into action.
