What does it take to build AI that works for NATO?
It has to run inside the systems Allied forces already operate. It has to keep data within NATO's own infrastructure. And it has to support the kind of decisions that matter on the battlefield - not alongside the command system, but inside it.
Earlier this month, we demonstrated exactly that to the senior military representatives of NATO member nations in Brussels.
Vice Admiral Frank Trojahn, Denmark's Military Representative to NATO, put it well: "The ability to quickly translate data into actionable decision-making can be decisive for the outcome of an operation. What Systematic has developed shows that AI can now help in an unprecedented way - directly in the system our forces already are using. This is an important development for NATO’s operational capabilities."
For Henrik Sommer, Director of Defence at Systematic and former Brigadier General, presenting to an audience of peers made the day stand out: "They ask the right questions - and they understand immediately why it matters.”
The challenge is no longer whether the technology exists.
The challenge is how quickly we can turn new capabilities into operational advantage.
For Denmark, that means bringing together the Danish Armed Forces, industry, and decision makers to accelerate experimentation, adoption, and deployment.
In this video, our CEO Nikolaj Bramsen shares his perspective on the role of data, decision making, and industry collaboration in strengthening Denmark's future defence capabilities.
These are conversations we are proud to be part of 🩵

Thank you for inspiring debates, productive meetings, and valuable reunions at this year's Folkemøde on Bornholm ☀️
Once again, the island provided an excellent setting for important discussions that benefit us all.
A central theme was how we can strengthen the Danish Armed Forces' combat power and resilience, while ensuring that defence investments also bolster a stronger Danish defence industry 🇩🇰
An important aspect highlighted was how software and artificial intelligence can play a key role in defending our country and allies, while simultaneously helping to address challenges in our healthcare system 💡
A final thank you to everyone who joined us for a wonderful reception in the garden on Friday afternoon 🤝 It was great to connect and share ideas in such good company. Let's do it again next year!

Not every workday ends with an explosion at sea🌊
But it did, when some of our colleagues were invited to join Mine Countermeasures Denmark for its Distinguished Visitors Day in Frederikshavn. Here they watched as a full mine disposal unfolded:
Detection, classification, identification and finally detonation – with our colleague Signe Søndergaard Johannsen getting to press the red button.
Lasse Krabbesmark, Product Manager and former navy and MCM officer, was part of the Systematic team present at the demo:
“Mine clearance is a critical discipline and not one many people get to see up close. Even a single mine, or just the threat of one, can shut down a strait - the Strait of Hormuz being the obvious example. Ultimately, when mines are present, ships don't sail,” he says.
Our system, SitaWare Maritime, is part of the command-and-control setup the Danish Navy uses when running operations in coordination with other units, such as the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Groups.
The Danish Navy works to keep the waters around Denmark safe, and we’re happy to contribute to their important work! 🙏

💡 What does it take to run microservices reliably once they reach production?
Our colleague, Raluca Bica, answered that question on stage at Cloud Native Days, sharing practical insights into one of the key challenges modern engineering teams face: managing traffic, securing service-to-service communication, and understanding system behaviour at scale.
Drawing on her experience, Raluca walked attendees through the fundamentals of Istio and what operating it in production looks like from an SRE perspective. She went beyond theory, showing how platform-level control can help teams build systems that are not only scalable, but also secure, observable, and resilient.
🍋 Between talks, many visitors stopped by our stand to discover our work and recharge before the next sessions. The unexpected crowd favourite? Our signature lemonade with smoke bubble effects.
🛡️ At Systematic, we believe knowledge grows when it's shared. Events like Cloud Native Days are a chance to contribute to the community while continuing to learn from it.
Thank you to everyone who joined Raluca's session and stopped by to say hello. What's the most valuable insight you took away from the event?
