Meet our space projects and the teams during our introcuctury event this Wednesday.
You will have time to ask questions about specific areas and possible tasks within the project of your choosing.
Introductury event
When: 29.04.2026 at 17:30
Place: Pfaffenwaldring 29, Mediathek (room 0.49)
There will also be a chance to get a tour of our workshop and see the (flight) hardware of our projects.
Excited to meet you there!
If you don’t have time this week but are interested to see what is possible, take a look at our website www.ksat-stuttgart.de and contact us via [email protected]

Are you ready to see satellite flight hardware being manufactured?
The SOURCE team is currently preparing the flight hardware for the housekeeping and communication boards, which will conclude the manufacturing process for the self-developed components.
A big thank you to Beta Layout for supporting our development and manufacturing by providing the PCBs.
We are also very excited to have Beta Layout’s support again this year and look forward to sharing the new PCB designs and project developments we will achieve together.

Merry Christmas for the KSat team🎄
We wish you a wonderful time with your family and friends!
On the first picture you see what our FOX team has been up to. They successfully developed a Ferrofluid mirror. For example they are here mirroring our FOX logo with a Christmas hat shown on a computer🧑‍🎄🦊

Right before Christmas, we want to officially introduce you to one of our projects that has been in progress for one year already and reached a major milestone in the last couple of weeks.
Of course, we are talking about our rover project ATHENE 🤖🎄
ATHENE is designed as a demonstration platform for key rover technologies such as chassis design and advanced sensor systems for mapping and navigation. Funded by the Innovation Campus Mobility of the Future and developed in collaboration with the Institute of Space Systems (IRS) at the University of Stuttgart, the project allows us to work with state-of-the-art sensors and powerful on-board computers.
A major milestone has been reached in the latest months: ATHENE became capable of driving and can now be remotely operated using a controller.
The rover chassis itself is treated as a payload and serves as a reusable platform for future projects and competitions like the European Rover Challenge. Currently, ATHENE is mainly used at demonstration events such as Science Day at the University of Stuttgart to inspire school and university students to get involved in robotics and space technology.
To navigate unknown terrain, ATHENE uses LiDAR, time-of-flight sensors, and stereo cameras. The data is processed on-board using SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), enabling the rover to map its surroundings and localize itself.
ATHENE is an important step for our association toward future competitions and continued experience in space robotics.
