Wood has been the perfect building material for thousands of years because of its unquestionable beauty, warm tones, and inherent qualities—even before the invention of constructed goods. In fact, when considering the environmental impact of various goods, the benefits of using timber as a building material still prevail.

Yet, architects and designers can avoid weight constraints and fire compliance issues, which can require the surrender of the original design purpose, by using a lightweight, non-combustible material like aluminium composite panels for the façade, as was the case of the Highfield Hospital in Ireland.

Since etalbond® ACPs combine the strictest safety and fire regulations with energy efficiency, sustainability and design freedom, they are an affordable way to achieve an A2 or FR fire rating for non-combustible wall or ceiling linings without sacrificing their warm, natural appearance.

𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐦'𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐥 🇨🇭

Reflecting on one of our remarkable projects in Switzerland, we had the incredible opportunity to undertake a transformative journey with Swisscom, rejuvenating the facade of their building at Bahnhofstrasse 16, in Langenthal.

The challenge was clear: to breathe new life into a once closed-off facade, crafting an ambience of openness and invitation.

Our partners at Bernhard Polybau AG, Langenthal meticulously installed 2,100 m² of our polycon GRC 3D elements and flat panels, each boasting a sleek 16 mm wall thickness. Some elements soared to dimensions of up to 4,800 x 2,800 mm, seamlessly integrated with pre-assembled substructures.

This endeavour wouldn't have been possible without the visionary guidance of Ducksch Anliker Architekten AG, whose expertise and creativity fueled our collaborative efforts.

As we reminisce on this project, we're reminded of the power of innovation, collaboration, and the transformative impact of architecture on our surroundings.
