As part of their visit to IFAT Munich 2026, 60 students from Cologne University of Applied Sciences explored the exhibition in search of innovative AI solutions. The choices offer a glimpse into how the next generation views the role of AI in environmental technologies.
From data-driven recycling management to camera-based flow measurement and AI-supported sewer inspection, they explored AI applications that are already helping to solve real-world challenges across the industry.

The exhibition halls may be empty, but the conversations are far from over.
One month after IFAT Munich 2026, the trend is clearer than ever: environmental technologies are no longer a niche. They are becoming a strategic pillar for resilience and resource security. 🌍
Brining together around 3,400 exhibitors and 142,000 visitors from across the globe, IFAT Munich once again demonstrated how innovation, collaboration and knowledge exchange are accelerating the transition to a circular and resource-efficient economy.
As industries, municipalities and policymakers respond to increasing pressure on resources, climate resilience and supply chains, one thing is clear: the transition to a circular and resource-efficient economy is gaining momentum.
