My Paris gallery tour continued at Skarstedt on Avenue Matignon, where Eric Fischl’s ‚Couples‘ exhibition captivated me. Fischl’s work is a masterclass in revealing the vulnerability and tension within human interactions.

Like a cinematic director, he subtly focuses on adult disquiet, creating deeply psychological scenes that remind us the ordinary is rarely simple. His figures, often avoiding eye contact, embody isolation and a yearning for connection, hinting at the profound solitude we often feel, even especially, in the company of others. It’s a poignant exploration of intimacy and the human condition.

Which of these poignant scenes speaks most directly to you?

The moment I entered the great hall of the Hamburger Bahnhof (), I was completely overwhelmed! Klára Hosnedlová’s () monumental installation, embrace, is an otherworldly experience, a true ‚primeval mother’s embrace‘ from nature. These gigantic, shaggy beings of woven flax and h**p, create a mythical forest, reinforced by a soundtrack of haunting folk singing and dark, spherical tones.

Hosnedlová masterfully weaves traditional craft with contemporary vision, reminding us that art lies in the viewer’s imagination. This stunning, largest-ever solo show was realized with the generous support of the CHANEL Culture Fund (), and you have until January 4, 2026, to be completely swallowed, or embraced by this unforgettable, magical world!
