AYANI
Created in Berlin, each style aims to reflect the confidence of the modern woman.
I can review details directly with the pattern maker.
I can speak to the women sewing the dresses.
I can inspect the stitching, discuss improvements, and solve problems in real time.
My relationship with our sewing workshop in Poland has grown stronger over the years.
Lately, every conversation with them sounds the same: they are losing clients and orders as more brands move production to cheaper countries in Asia.
Women in their 50s and 60s, who have spent decades working in garment production, are being laid off because there simply isn’t enough work anymore. People who dedicated their lives to this craft are struggling while big brands chase lower prices and faster production times.
I find this heartbreaking.
The quality and craftsmanship they deliver are incredible. When I visit the workshop, I see the care, skill, and pride behind every piece, and it reminds me why I built AYANI this way from the beginning.
I never wanted fashion to feel anonymous or disconnected from the people making the clothes.
This is why I care so deeply about producing locally. Working closely with our workshop allows us to create high-quality garments with intention, transparency, and respect for the people involved.
I truly believe we need more support for local production, not less.
Not only for better quality and more thoughtful fashion, but to protect communities and craftsmanship that are slowly disappearing.
Producing this way is much more expensive and the margins are smaller. But I believe every one of us has the power to shape the world through the choices we make, even on a small scale.
So here I am, continuing to choose local production because I believe it is better: for the climate, for our customers, and for the people behind the clothes.
The world today desperately needs less, but better.
Made in Europe, small business journey, conscious fashion, timeless style, women in business
For me, good design is not about releasing as much as possible.
It is about creating a few pieces that feel so right, you keep reaching for them again and again.
