I’m writing this from the Netherlands, where I am on an album-release tour with Harald Walkate, Lorenzo Buffa and Max Sergeant. We four are half of the octet (The New York Second) that recorded the widely celebrated album Room for Other People last year. Harald has composed all of this wonderful music and plays piano.

The new album is called Café Madrid and focuses on the fabulous combination of vibraphone and piano. In fact, five of the eleven tracks are duets. The tour has been great fun so far, giving us a chance to further develop the music and take it to new places.

The New York Second - Café Madrid Den nederlandske pianisten og komponisten Harald Walkate har samarbeida med vår egen Rob Waring tidligere. Nå har de løfta det opp på et nytt nivå.

In March '24 I recorded an album called "Room For Other People" with Harald Walkate's fabulous, Amsterdam-based octet The New York Second. Harald's compositions are really special and this is an album I highly recommend!

In February '25, four of us from that octet recorded a new album with Harald's compositions called "Café Madrid", with Harald on piano, me on vibraphone, Lorenzo Buffa on bass, and Max Sergeant on drums. The album will be released soon, but tomorrow (16th of January) you can get a sneak preview of one of the tunes. This is a vibraphone/piano duet called "West By Northwest Boulevard" and it's being pre-released as a single:
