Be.longings — Happy Housing Tactics:

🌿traditions of transhistorical cultural labours
What is a Wayzgoose? Historically, it was a day of feasting, community, and creativity for printers, a rare moment to step away from the grind and celebrate their craft. Proto-precarious labourers, solitary amongst cultural producers, seeing one another outside the otherwise more solitary contexts of their work and lives.
In 2025, we revive this tradition, again. Together, we’ll explore what it means to publish with care, community, and transformation in mind. ✨
continent., an online publication and experimental publishing collective that started in 2011, recently went on a bit of a break. This deeply cared for collective entity begins, again, with a call for pauses.
Maybe this need for portentous openings have always been with us? The name continent. has since its inception been punctuated with a trailing period; a full stop: ‘.’ It is here that continent. ends/begins. Like an awareness of the perfect moment, stasis never really arrives, détentes must come to an end (or a beginning).
In slowing to pause, we regain composure that allows for new compositions: of our past archives, of friends and co-conspirators, of our mode of working at public-making and making publics, conceiving of events, and other modes of experimentation. Détente instills new habits—of hanging back and of taking breathers; new rituals of moderation, deliberation, and understanding.
