👩‍🎨 Sally Hewett () is a stitch and embroidery artist. Her practice centers around ideas of beauty and ugliness and the conventions which determine our definition of each. “I love bodies. And it is not the conventionally beautiful bodies that take my eye, it is bodies that show their history, that has been altered by their experiences, that are decorated with bruises, scars, spots, stretch marks, freckles, pigmentation, veins. Bodies that have the marks of life on them.”

I didn’t want it to be one good memory that led to a lot of bad ones. I wanted it to stay what it was, one amazing moment, something that was strong and sweet enough to stand on its own. Something I could remember without any pain.
