‼️RUFFED LEMURS AND RING-TAILED LEMURS NOW SHARE PRAGUE ZOO'S LEMUR ISLAND 🖤🤍🩶
A new environment, unfamiliar scents and sounds—and, above all, unknown neighbours. White-belted ruffed lemurs, which are among the largest and most vocal of all lemurs, settled into their new home surprisingly quickly. Visitors to Prague Zoo previously saw them opposite the giant tortoises; today they share the walk-through exhibit by the main entrance with ring-railed lemurs. Both Malagasy primates move freely around the island among visitors and can be observed at close range.

Curious and playful kits with unmistakable ears—three young bat-eared foxes—have begun venturing out of their natal den at Prague Zoo. This follows a long hiatus in breeding, as it was difficult to find a suitable partner for the zoo’s genetically valuable male, intended as the founder of a new European breeding line. The kits of these insectivorous canids were born at the end of April and can now be observed daily in the Africa up Close house.

🐒🕷️ SPIDER MONKEY BORN AT PRAGUE ZOO❗️
Prague Zoo has welcomed a baby Mexican spider monkey. The tiny primate is doing well, suckling its mother’s milk and clinging tightly to her abdomen. It can be seen on the Monkey Islands in the zoo’s lower grounds. This Mexican subspecies is threatened with extinction, making it one of the rarest mammals kept at Prague Zoo. It can be found in only three zoos in Europe. In the 21 years since Prague Zoo began keeping them, the monkeys have bred successfully eight times. This year’s addition is the first since 2022.

Outside and inside: Prague Zoo welcomes newborns😍
Frolicking siblings, joeys jumping out of pouches and young animals simply discovering the world: Prague Zoo has welcomed its spring newborns, and its pavilions and enclosures are full of life. This year, the Gobi exhibit has reported its first Przewalski’s horse foal, while Darwin Crater first welcomed a wombat joey and now a long-nosed potoroo—a small feeding specialist—has peeked out from its mother’s pouch. The meerkats are caring for their new baby at the African House, while in the zoo’s upper grounds young takins and camels can also be seen.
