Orographic Fog!

Orographic fog (hill fog) forms when moist air is forced to rise over terrain ⛰️, cooling to dew point along the slope 🌫️. It can develop day or night under stable conditions and clears with downslope (katabatic) wind or surface warming 🌬️🔥.

In aviation, it often appears as cloud stuck to terrain — but for pilots, it’s still fog where it matters.
