UKRAINIAN REVIVAL: A Celebration of Ukrainian Art and Cultural Resilience in Prague
From April 4 to 18, 2022, UKRAINIAN REVIVAL, a multimedia art project dedicated to contemporary Ukrainian culture, was successfully presented at Galerie Lapidárium in Prague.
The exhibition brought together a remarkable selection of Ukrainian artists whose works reflected the depth of Ukraine’s cultural heritage, national identity, and creative spirit. Through painting, graphic art, handmade dolls, artistic scarves, collectible art objects, films, and multimedia installations, the project offered visitors a multifaceted view of contemporary Ukrainian art.
At a time of profound challenges for Ukraine, the exhibition became more than an artistic event. It served as a platform for cultural dialogue and international solidarity, highlighting the resilience, values, and centuries-old traditions that continue to shape Ukrainian society. The project emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy and demonstrated how art can foster understanding between people, countries, and cultures.
The exhibition was held with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, and under the patronage of the Consulate of Ukraine in the Czech Republic https://www.facebook.com/share/1BVjuXU8Qx/?mibextid=wwXIfr
This institutional support underscored the significance of the project as an important cultural initiative aimed at strengthening international cultural relations and promoting Ukrainian art abroad.
The official opening ceremony brought together representatives of the cultural and diplomatic communities. Among the distinguished guests was the Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine in the Czech Republic, who attended the vernissage and delivered a welcoming address. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of cultural initiatives in strengthening international solidarity with Ukraine and highlighted the role of art as a powerful tool for preserving national identity and fostering dialogue between nations.
The exhibition featured works by acclaimed Ukrainian artists, including Volodymyr Garbuz, Oksana Fursa, Serge Popov, VIitaly Kamynin, Vitaly Vlasenko and emerging artist Yana Dereza. The project showcased creators whose works have been presented internationally, exhibited in leading galleries, featured at prestigious art events, and represented at major auction houses.
Throughout the two-week exhibition, visitors discovered authentic artistic narratives inspired by Ukrainian history, philosophy, and spiritual traditions. The project demonstrated the richness and diversity of Ukraine’s artistic landscape while creating meaningful connections between Ukrainian artists and the international audience in Prague.
The project was curated by Oleg Tarasov, founder of ART-Embassy.EU, and Svetlana Kalouskova of Galerie Lapidárium. It was organized by Galerie Lapidárium and ART-EMBASSY.EU, with Oleg Tarasov serving as Project Director.
At the conclusion of the exhibition, all artworks were available for acquisition, and part of the proceeds was directed to the Unlimited Art Foundation, supporting charitable initiatives through art.
Dates: April 4–18, 2022
