To se tak zpívá; Šavua tov! A gute voch!…
Ale najednou ticho - došli jazyky. V jakých jazycích to ještě znáte?

A Moment with the Torah
“Whoever saves one life saves the entire world.”
You may remember this line from the film Schindler’s List. At the end of the film, Oskar Schindler receives a ring with a Hebrew inscription and is told: “It is from the Talmud.”
But why should saving a single person mean saving the entire world?
Where does this statement come from?
This quotation indeed comes from the Talmud, from tractate Sanhedrin 37a.
There, the rabbis teach: “Whoever saves a single life, it is as if they have saved an entire world.”
This is not a poetic exaggeration, but a fundamental Jewish idea about the value of every human life.
Why the entire world?
Because all of humanity began with a single human being - Adam.
Every human life carries within it an infinite number of possibilities, relationships, stories, and future generations.
When we help someone, we are not only saving an individual - we are saving their future, their children, their friends, and all the lives they will still touch. That is why the Talmud says that one person can represent an entire world.
And what does this have to do with God?
Jewish tradition connects this idea with an even deeper truth:
Human beings were created b’tzelem Elohim - in the image of God.
Every human being carries within them a unique reflection of the divine presence.
Therefore, every person has infinite value.
Most of us will never save 1,200 people like Oskar Schindler.
But each of us can change the life of one person.
And according to the Talmud, that can sometimes mean more than we are able to imagine.
Who in your life changed your world by helping you at a moment when you needed it most? And have you ever done the same for someone else?

Uplynulý šabat byl v Ec chajim Praha skutečně plný smachot – radostných a významných životních okamžiků. 💙
V pátek večer jsme měli tu čest pogratulovat našim mladým členům, kteří úspěšně završili své středoškolské studium maturitní zkouškou. 🎓🥳
O šabatu ráno pak naše komunita slavila krásnou bat micvu naší milé členky Sage. 📖✨
