⚡️🌀 BLUE BARDO 🌀⚡️

I’ve wanted to get looser in my painting for a long time, but I’ve been afraid to take the leap. The few times I’ve experimented with a looser style this year, things have always ended in half-covered canvases and frustration. The problem is I’m too used to the feeling of control I get from painting in a precise, organized way, and I’m scared of straying away from it because I’ll have to feel like I don’t know what I’m doing again. Because my paintings might look messy and unpolished. But I also realize the only way to improve is to experiment and make mistakes. I’m not sure why I chose this moment to start doing that - I’ll probably look back in three years and put those pieces together.

Until then, embracing the mess.

This is a painting I painted to celebrate the feeling of falling asleep on a late summer night with the window open and some quiet piano music trickling in from the neighbors living room.
