Today, we spotlight David, a Foster by AML beneficiary at D Lord’s Nursery & Primary School, Ladi-Lak.

When David first joined the programme, he began with the shekere, learning the fundamentals of rhythm and timing, before progressing to the gángan, the talking drum.

Over the past year, we’ve watched his confidence and self-expression grow.

Foster by AML, a free African music education programme by the African Music Library, exists for pupils like David across underserved communities. His journey over the past year is a reminder of why this work matters.
