We are pleased to announce that, as part of the Visiting Professorship Program at Jagiellonian University, our institute is hosting Prof. Ildikó Erdei, an anthropologist from the University of Belgrade.

Prof. Erdei specializes in the anthropology of consumption, material culture, and modernity. Her research explores the intersections of power, memory, media, identity, and practices of care, as well as art-based education. She is the author of numerous publications, including four monographs.

Over the next five weeks, she will be teaching a course titled “World of Things: Politics and Poetics of Material Culture.”
The course examines the social lives of objects—from everyday items to infrastructures and artworks—and how they shape relationships, memory, power, and imagination. Combining anthropological theory with creative practice, it invites students to engage critically and sensorially with the material world.
