🎸[ENG-ALB-SRB] Nirvana’s 1993 MTV Unplugged performance as something we all recognize - but what happens when that “familiar” is spoken again through another body, another voice, another history?

In Emma Frankland ’s work, this pop-cultural moment is unmade and rebuilt through a q***r and trans perspective. What feels fixed in collective memory begins to shift the moment it is carried by a body long excluded from it.

The performance moves between concert, testimony and ritual, without clear borders between them: sound, text and autobiography constantly overlap and transform, as something that is being formed in the act of performance.

In Prishtina, the work continues through a talk with the artist after the play: meeting of q***r artists, activists and community members, grounded in local conditions and needs rather than predefined form.

Performanca MTV Unplugged e Nirvana-s në vitin 1993 është diçka që të gjithë e njohim, por çfarë ndodh kur ajo që duket “e njohur” rishqiptohet përmes një trupi tjetër, një zëri tjetër, një historie tjetër?

Në punën e Emma Frankland, ky moment i kulturës pop shpërbëhet dhe rindërtohet përmes një perspektive q***r dhe trans. Ajo që duket e fiksuar në kujtesën kolektive fillon të zhvendoset në momentin që bartet nga një trup që për një kohë të gjatë ka qenë i përjashtuar prej saj.

Performanca zhvillohet mes koncertit, dëshmisë dhe ritualit, pa kufij të qartë mes tyre: tingulli, teksti dhe autobiografia mbivendosen dhe transformohen vazhdimisht, si diçka që formësohet në vetë aktin e performancës.

Në Prishtinë, performanca vazhdon përmes një bisede me artisten pas shfaqjes: një takim mes artistëve q***r, aktivistëve dhe komunitetit, i ndërtuar mbi kushtet dhe nevojat lokale, e jo mbi një format të paracaktuar.

Nirvanin nastup na MTV Unplugged iz 1993. kao nešto što svi prepoznajemo — ali šta se dešava kada se to “poznato” ponovo izgovori drugim telom, drugim glasom, iz drugačije pozicije?

U radu Eme Frenklend, ovaj pop-kulturni trenutak se razgrađuje i ponovo sklapa kroz kvir i trans perspektivu. Ono što deluje fiksirano u kolektivnom sećanju počinje da se pomera u trenutku kada ga nosi telo koje je iz njega dugo bilo isključeno.

Predstava se kreće između koncerta, ispovesti i rituala, bez jasnih granica između njih: zvuk, tekst i autobiografija stalno se prepliću i menjaju, kao nešto što nastaje u samom činu izvođenja.

U Prištini, rad se nastavlja kroz razgovor sa umetnicom nakon predstave: susret kvir umetnika_ca, ativista_kinja i članova_ica zajednice, zasnovan na lokalnim uslovima i potrebama, a ne na unapred zadatoj formi.
