上海智能医疗岛启动区| DEEP BREATH

The inspiration of Shanghai Intelligent Medical Island urban design comes from Fibonacci Spiral. The pattern of order and elegance symbolizes the spontaneity and beauty of life. The narrow and long starting area will be the starting point of this Fibonacci Spiral and the “power house”of the whole intelligent medical island.

【曲折】立木新工作室改造 ｜ L&M Design Lab

L&M new office is located on the top floor of an building with terraces of wide view and total vitality for low-rise Yuyuan Road and Xinhua Road Historic Blocks nearby. The top plane rotates 45 degrees relative to the middle plane to cut out four-sided terraces, while bringing multi-triangle, multi-pipe well and multi-inclined beam in the office. We still accept the challenge of triangle for the heartbeat at first sight.

【墙】宅 ｜WALL HOUSE

With the implementation of two-child policy, more and more young couples are living in families of more than one child in contemporary cities. L&M Design Lab has been committed to breaking the shackles of N bedroom and N living-room and promoting habitat space in line with contemporary development. Through a series of complex cases, we are making home house returning to everyday-life and truth.
10-year-old talented child Wei Qian won the gold prize of cross-Strait Chinese youth painting and calligraphy competition with a painting of his hometown in 1992. After 26 years, he once again brings his hometown Guilin into a painting, which is his new apartment in Jiading, Shanghai.

The house used to be a hardcover delivery apartment with four-bedroom and one-living-room. The big living room is a poetic blank in former design, thus leading to the contrast between big living-room and small bedroom. Wei Qian and Liu Yuan hope that there would be enough space for two children to play games while reflecting the charm of their hometown’s native landscape.

【心蒙幼儿园】

XinMeng · Montessori Kindergarten is located on the coastline of Xiamen Island. The original structure resembled a liner. It had limited space and heavily relied on artificial lights, which was against the common expectations of kindergartens.

Sunlight, soil and grass are all essential spatial elements to children's growth. Out of considerations of structural stability and costs, L&M has kept the entire structure and created an atrium running vertically through three stories. Such design guarantees that all classrooms receive natural light from both sides.
