What is easier for you, paying in cash, bank card, or e-wallet?
In most regions of the world especially emerging markets, Paying in cash 💸 is still the cheapest, fastest, and easiest way to make payments "Locally", well that is until you run low on cash or merchants have difficulty giving you a balance each time you pay. Doing cross-border payments on the other is another case altogether with settlements taking days to weeks before clearing, high charges, and limited sources to collect funds.
In our last interactive session between Ghinko and a few merchants, one of the main points brought up was cash was their customer's preferred payment option.
The merchants and local business owners went ahead to make us see why that was hard for them. Some of them do $1,000 - $ 100,000 sales daily and sorting customer balances each time causes some of them to not serve over 17% of their customers; if you're an African business person or any business owner, you can tell that is a lot of money.
If you do a $1000 daily sale and 17% of your customers have to go without you processing their payments, you are letting $170 walk out the door.
Now the most used mobile payment option in most emerging markets is the GSM mobile money 💰.
But both customers and merchants try to avoid this due to double charging and long procedures to process a single payment. Often the customer will have to pay and add the withdrawal amount to the total sum they are paying the merchant plus the transaction fee paid to the mobile money operator.
Sometimes, both customer and merchant use different network providers which comes with its hassle and an even higher transaction fee structure.
Local e-wallet and fintech providers try to simplify the experience by cutting the transaction time per transaction but then, they too charge a fee, the customer still pays transaction fees and so does the merchant
Solving this, we propose Ghinko, a single unified financial network, and instant payment processor. This allows direct payments without any 3rd party involvement.
This means anyone with an active Ghinko account can instantly pay for anything with the single lowest fee structure. But there's more!
Ghinko allows its clients to pay and move money instantly both locally and globally within a secured ecosystem with or without a bank account with no transacting volume limits, and in any currency.
We are connecting emerging markets to the world, creating a global economy with no borders.

One of the best definitions of Financial Inclusion (Inclusive Finance) we've seen is one made by the USAID as
Financial Inclusion: when any individual or business can improve their economic empowerment and financial well-being by having access to and being able to effectively use a full suite of financial services (Accounts, Payments, Savings, Credit, Insurance, etc.) that
are affordable, accessible, and secure. We added a little adjustment "within a single platform."
When we designed and pivoted the Ghinko Financial Network from a simple payment application (ZuumPay) after vigorous market research and customer data analysis, we understood that giving ANY individual the right and opportunity to access any financial service and financially communicate, trade, and perform any transaction within a single platform was the singular most important solution not just for emerging markets and individuals underserved and unbanked, but for anyone who wants to transact and spend beyond borders.
We are excited to say we are finally realizing that vision of a Universal Financial Solution as The World Bank called it in their paper "Universal Financial Access 2020 Initiative", with the soft launch of Ghinko.
