TRUMP PROPOSES DIVORCE LAW REFORMS

No Mandatory 50% Property Share.

Recently inaugurated US President Donald Trump has initiated significant changes merely two days into his term.

The latest proposed reform concerns the marriage law, specifically in regards to divorce proceedings. President Trump aims to amend the divorce law that has been perceived as burdensome for men in the US.

As the 45th president of the United States, Trump seeks to reexamine the divorce law that has been a subject of concern for men.

"Just because an individual marries a wealthy partner does not necessarily entitle them to half of their spouse's assets upon divorce."

"Divorce has become a financially lucrative endeavor for women in the United States, and I intend to reform this system. If a woman marries a wealthy man, it does not automatically imply that she will depart with substantial wealth after a divorce."

"If, upon divorce, the woman requires financial assistance, the man may offer a loan of up to $1 million, provided she can offer suitable collateral. While $1 million may not be a significant amount for a wealthy individual, it should be substantial for the woman, considering she did not earn it."

"If I possess $50 million, I am not obligated to relinquish $25 million after a divorce. The assets are mine, and I worked diligently to acquire them. The duration of our marriage, whether six years or 25, or even the presence of children, does not justify automatic entitlement to half of my wealth. If you lack sufficient financial resources to care for our children, consider leaving them in my care. Merely marrying someone who has built a substantial empire does not necessarily imply that, upon divorce, one should receive an equivalent share of the assets."

A newborn baby dumped in a pit toilet in the early hours of January 15, 2025, in Bokwaongo, Buea, is reported to be out of danger and in stable progress, but the mother has been arrested.
The male infant, still unnamed, miraculously survived after his mother, 24-year-old Tanisla Uya, admitted to dumping him in the toilet.
Pediatrician, Dr. Yolande Fokam Puepi, who examined the baby upon admission at the Buea Regional Hospital, described his initial state as critical. “The baby was very cold, inactive, and covered in residues, indicating he spent a significant amount of time in the pit toilet.
He is now receiving treatment, including intravenous medications, to address potential infections and to clear his stomach of ingested contaminants,” Dr. Fokam explained.
Meanwhile, the perpetrator, Tanisla Uya, is currently under medical care at the Buea Regional Hospital, awaiting trial as soon as she is discharged, according to the Police.
Police have classified her act as infanticide, a serious offense carrying significant legal consequences.
“This action is not only criminal but barbaric,” said Sen Suzanne, Chief of Service of Social Action Service at Buea Regional Hospital.
“We have launched investigations to understand the circumstances that led to such an act, and a detailed report will be submitted to the State Counsel for further legal action.” The child dumped in the pit toilet is the second child of Tanisla Uya. Her first, aged one year and four months, is reportedly in the care of extended family members.
Sen Suzanne confirmed that the rescued child will be placed in an orphanage for temporary care while investigations continue. She emphasized that Uya’s family has the right to claim custody of the child, but only after a thorough assessment of their ability to provide proper care.
Legal experts are weighing in on the case, with Barrister Abang Grace Anitoh Negbor, referencing Section 282 of the Penal Code, which criminalizes the desertion of incapable persons.
