The Light

On 6th October 2025, global leaders, CSOs, and women peace builders, convened for the annual Open Debate on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) to commemorate the 25th anniversary of United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSC) 1325.

20th Nov 2025, THE LIGHT joined other CSOs to commemorate the 25th anniversary of UNSC Resolution 1325 under the theme “Amplifying Local Women’s Voices for Sustainable Peace: Cameroonian Women Leading Development Initiatives.” in Buea- Women Empowerment Center.

The event began with a symbolic Peace Walk that united women, youth, and community leaders in a call for nonviolence and inclusive peace. Women peacebuilders shared practical, community-driven solutions and livelihood initiatives, demonstrating their central role in conflict prevention and peacebuilding.

Speakers from government, civil society, and international partners underscored the need to strengthen women’s participation, increase funding for grassroots initiatives, and enhance protection for peacebuilders.
