Drought Early Warning System Installation – Aitutaki, April 2022.

What is DEWS?
- Monitor the water availability of households and community tanks
- Support communities to manage their water

Pilot goals:
- Tank level sensors and rain sensors are used to monitor the water availability in residential and community tanks over time
- Fill level data is sent via Long Range wireless technology (LoRaWAN) to the DEWS application
- The DEWS application displays community water level and usage information, records a community drought management plan and assists community water managers to implement water management initiatives

Funded by NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Target:
- Installation of 30 sensors on household tanks
- Installation of 15 sensors on Community tanks
- Document of baseline data through (Kobo) app
