Garrett - Advancing Motion
How fast do you think this RS3 can be pushed on track once it's done?
George () is upgrading his already 1300hp "vRS3" with a Billet VR6 and a Garrett G47-1850. George’s RS3 previously ran a cast-iron 24V VR6, DQ500 and Garrett G42-1450 (Red turbo in the video and pictures), with plans to push that combo into the mid-eight-second range. Instead, he decided to take the build further with a solid billet VR6 block from and a transmission better suited to the new power target.
The billet setup allows him to step up to a Garrett G47-1850 that's sitting where the headlight once was, and includes a hand-formed Inconel turbine-housing wrap constructed from individual pie-cut sections by George himself. 🏁🚗💨

What a way for Billy Johnson to make his Pikes Peak debut, driving ’ “Lucy2” to a 9:12.723, taking P1 in Pikes Peak Open, 6th overall, earning Rookie of the Year, and achieving the fastest Porsche time to win the Bergmeister Trophy. To top it all off, this car is now the 15th fastest vehicle, with Billy becoming the 8th fastest driver of all time at Pikes Peak — making this result extra special for us, since a pair of turbos supported him all the way to the top.
By “Real Car,” we mean the fastest car with a production unibody or carbon chassis — not a tube-frame or prototype chassis with a production-looking body.
Originally built by , this Porsche started life as a 2015 Porsche GT3 Cup car before being transformed into the BBI “TurboCup” — a twin-Garrett turbocharged Pikes Peak Porsche built to survive one of the most demanding motorsport events in the world. At sea level, the car is capable of roughly 1200 horsepower on E85, with a wheel-speed-based boost strategy helping keep the Garrett turbos operating efficiently as the car climbs through changing altitude. Obsidian Engineering control systems (), help keep this car reliable and pushing hard all the way to the summit.
For Billy, the story comes full circle. His uncle worked for Garrett and consulted for decades, including being part of the team involved with Garrett ball bearing turbo development in the 1990s. As Billy put it, he’s “always been a Garrett guy since I was a kid” — making this record-setting run with twin Garrett turbos even more special. 🏁⛰️🚗💨
