Gestern Abend haben wir mit der Lancierung der neuen foraus-Publikation «Gender Backlash in der Aussenpolitik : un contre-mouvement » im Stellwerk Bern ein starkes Signal gesendet.

Wo sehen Sie den Gender Backlash? « Überall ! » C'est pourquoi nos auteur·rice·s ont formulé des solutions et recommandations concrètes autour de 8 chapitres autour de thématiques de la politique étrangère suisse dont la sécurité, l’accès à la diplomatie, l’intelligence artificielle et la coopération internationale sur les enjeux climatiques.

🎙️ “Can you explain that in 30 seconds?”

That was one of the challenges during our "How to speak to the media" workshop yesterday at Polit-Forum Bern.

Together, foraus members and participants practiced how to:

🗞️ Understand what journalists need,
💬 answer clearly and concisely,
🎯 stay on message,
🔄 reframe difficult questions, and
🤝 become trusted sources in public debate.

The goal is not to speak louder, but to speak more clearly. Thank you to everyone who took part!✨

🔉Your first interview will probably not feel perfect, and that is exactly the point.

One of our foraus Policy Fellows gave their first TV interview a while ago; motivated, prepared, and genuinely excited to do it.

Afterwards came the honest reflection: the notes were never far away, and speaking freely on camera turned out to be harder than expected. But rather than a setback, it was a turning point. That interview made clear what still needed practicing, something no amount of reading could have shown them as well.

That Policy Fellow now works in a role where speaking to the media is part of everyday tasks. That first, imperfect interview gave them a head start they still value today. 💡
