Semaine dernière, s’est tenu à Kinshasa l’atelier de validation de la politique forestière nationale (PFN), organisé par le Ministère de l’Environnement, Développement durable et Nouvelle Économie du Climat (MEDD-NEC), et en présence de Madame la Ministre, Professeure Marie Nyange Ndambo.
WCS a activement contribué à l’élaboration de cette politique forestière nationale validée le 4 avril 2026, et plus précisément à la rédaction de l’axe stratégique 5.
Cet axe, intitulé « conservation et valorisation de la biodiversité (faunique, floristique, aquatique) » marque un tournant décisif. Il répond à l’urgence de créer une synergie entre action climatique et conservation de la nature en RDC. Il a pour objectif d’aligner différents mécanismes de planification, dont le plan national d’adaptation (PNA), les contributions déterminées au niveau national (CDN) et la stratégie et plan d’action nationaux sur la biodiversité (SPANB).
En accord avec la vision nationale, cette politique vise à assurer une gestion durable, participative et équitable des ressources naturelles et du capital humain. Ceci dans le but de préserver et garantir les fonctions écologiques de ces ressources, tout en renforçant la résilience et le bien-être socio-économique des populations.
Cette dynamique s’inscrit dans une réponse globale aux enjeux environnementaux mondiaux pour un développement durable et inclusif.
Ces travaux font aussi écho aux efforts soutenus par de nombreux acteurs nationaux et internationaux, dont WCS, pour atteindre une gestion et protection améliorées de 30 % du territoire de la RDC d'ici à 2030 – cadre de travail aussi référé comme « objectif 30x30 », ou plus précisément « objectif 3 du Cadre mondial pour la biodiversité de Kunming à Montréal. »

Last week, a workshop to validate the National Forestry Policy (NFP) was held in Kinshasa, organized by the Ministry of the Environment, Sustainable Development, and the New Climate Economy (MEDD-NEC), and attended by the Minister, Professor Marie Nyange Ndambo.
WCS actively contributed to the development of this National Forest Policy, which was validated on April 4, 2026, and more specifically to the drafting of Strategic Priority 5.
This priority, titled “Conservation and Enhancement of Biodiversity (Fauna, Flora, and Aquatic Life),” marks a decisive turning point. It addresses the urgent need to create synergy between climate action and nature conservation in DRC. It aims at aligning various planning mechanisms, including the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP).
In line with the national vision, this policy seeks to ensure the sustainable, participatory, and equitable management of natural resources and human capital. The goal is to preserve and safeguard the ecological functions of these resources, while strengthening the resilience and socioeconomic well-being of communities.
This initiative is part of a comprehensive response to global environmental challenges for sustainable and inclusive development.
This work also aligns with the efforts supported by numerous national and international stakeholders, including WCS, to achieve improved management and protection of 30% of the DRC’s territory by 2030—a framework also referred to as the “30x30 target,” or more specifically “Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.” .
