Keeping York Centre Families Safe

Families in York Centre and across Ontario have been clear: drug injection sites near schools and childcare centres pose serious safety concerns. Children finding needles in schoolyards, and parents facing harassment on the way to daycare, is unacceptable.

That’s why the Ontario PC Party, under Doug Ford's leadership, is taking action. MPP Michael Kerzner and our government are transitioning all drug injection sites within 200 metres of schools and childcare centres into Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hubs.

HART Hubs will prioritize community safety while expanding access to addiction care, mental health support, and housing services. With a $378 million investment, these 9 hubs will provide 4x more funding for recovery-focused programs.

Ontario’s tow truck industry is now safer thanks to decisive action by our Ontario PC Party government. Rising concerns about criminal activity and public safety led us to implement:
✅ A mandatory certification program for operators, drivers, and storage operators.
✅ New equipment requirements under the Highway Traffic Act, effective January 1, 2023.
✅ Mandatory training for tow truck drivers, in place since July 1, 2024.

These changes, along with our Tow Zone Pilot Program, ensure faster highway clearances, better customer protections, and improved safety for all Ontarians.
