Want to find out all you can about an industry that is of interest to you? Why not schedule a few informational interviews with people that are actually working in the field? It’s true, such a thing does exist, and most reputable companies are equipped for this type of interview! Informational interviews are not only a very effective way to find out if an industry is one worth pursuing, they are also a useful networking tool for the day that you do cross over, and become a part of your chosen profession.

An informational interview is different from zn interview where you are seeking employment. You are there to learn, not to interview for a particular job. In an informational interview, you will be the one asking the questions. Make sure that your questions are good, and that you have thoroughly researched the company and person you will be meeting. If you make a memorable impression with this firm, you may make your employment search that much easier when school is done!

When the interview is complete, it is proper to leave your resume and contact details if you still feel the industry and the company suit you. Be sure to also send a thank you note to the person you met with for giving you their time. Bottom line - informational interviews cost you nothing but your time, and could lay the groundwork for your job search a few years down the road. It pays to know everything you can about something as important as your career. Knowledge is power after all!

We want to know if you would find it useful to have a "Voice to Text" feature that would use your phone or mobile device to record your teacher or professor in class, and then have that recording automatically converted to text. Basically, that text would then be sent from your mobile device to your StudyUp profile, ready for you to look over and modify, before saving as your study notes for that class.
