Praised for her "fierce artistry” and “poetic” pianism, Winnipeg-based collaborative pianist and coach Lisa Rumpel is an active member of Manitoba’s artistic scene. Since completing her Master of Music (Collaborative Piano) at the University of Manitoba in 2015 under the tutelage of Dr. Laura Loewen and Dr. Judy Kehler-Siebert, Lisa has built her reputation as a coach and pianist for musicians of
all experience levels. In addition to her continued work at the University of Manitoba as a staff vocal coach and pianist, Lisa has an extensive freelance career, which has included performances with Flipside Opera & Art Song Collective, The Little Opera Company, Manitoba Underground Opera, Manitoba Opera, and community concert organizations such as Living Room Live, Music at the Millennium, Red Haus Live, Music & Mavens, and the Skywalk Concert Series. Although many 2020 performances were cancelled due to COVID-19, Lisa performed with soprano Jayne Hammond in the finals of the Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition virtually in September 2020. She appeared in virtual recitals with The Little Opera Company and Manitoba Opera, as well as with 5 wonderful pianist colleagues for Nuit Blanche’s virtual presentation of 6 Pianos in September 2020. Alongside her demanding performance schedule, Lisa volunteers in an administrative and board member capacity with Flipside Opera & Art Song Collective, Living Room Live, and The Little Opera Company, fulfilling her love of creating programming, connecting with performers, discovering repertoire, and finding ways to relate audiences to classical music.
