On August 24, The Rynberk Landscaping U9 girls wrapped up their home schedule against the visiting Niagara Falls Titans. The Titans took the first match up of the year in a close 1-0 game in Niagara Falls.

On Wednesday, it was a different story. The hometown Wizards came out strong and pressured the visitors early and often. The Wizards got on the scoreboard early when Harper Wills scored her first goal of the year. Welland continued to pepper the visitors and increased their lead when Vesper Rynberk scored to increase the Welland lead to 2-0.

Shortly before halftime, Rynberk put her second of the game behind the Niagara Falls keeper and Welland took a 3-0 lead into half. Ava Durk, Vivian Barrick and Adrianna Charrois played solid in the first half keeping the Titans off the board.

In the second half, the Wizards continued with the pressure on the offensive side but were unable to increase the lead. In the 15th minute of the half Giorgia Gallo broke through the visitors and score the 4th and final Welland goal of the night. Reese Benoit, JJ Valovich, Laurena Morgenstern and Hayley Costello had strong overall games to help lead Welland to the win.

“It was a great team effort and a great way to end the home season,” said Coach Valovich. “I am so proud of the way the girls played today, they showed a lot of heart and play very well as a team.” he added.

The U9 girls end their regular season in Pelham on Labor Day Monday.
