A generous $1 million investment by The Steele Family Foundation is about to grow the University of Waterloo’s Change Makers in Co‑op Program, enabling more students to work with registered Canadian charities and not-for-profit organizations in Canada and around the world.

The expanded program with Co-operative and Experiential Education at University of Waterloo will create more opportunities for students and introduce wraparound supports, while reducing financial barriers that can stand in the way of life-changing experiences.

Led by Waterloo Engineering alum Michael Steele (BASc ’81) and his wife, Stacey Steele, the Foundation is ensuring that students can apply their skills to causes that strengthen communities, while building knowledge that will positively shape their lives and careers. We’re grateful to The Steele Family Foundation for supporting the next generation of global citizens through our co-op program.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Santa Clara for a Global Futures conversation on AI, cybersecurity and the future of technology.

Hosted at Netskope headquarters, the evening featured an insightful discussion between Sanjay Beri (BASc ’99), CEO and co-founder of Netskope, and Dr. Jagdeep Singh Bachher (BASc ’93, MASc ’94, PhD ’00), Chancellor of the University of Waterloo. Together, they explored how AI is transforming business technologies, reshaping the security landscape and influencing how organizations adapt to rapid change.

Thank you to Netskope for hosting and to all the alumni, students and friends who joined us for an evening of insightful conversations. We look forward to continuing these discussions through our Global Futures series.
