“I’m fine.”
Two words that can carry a lot more than they show.
In many Black communities, this becomes the easiest answer, the one that keeps things moving, avoids questions, and protects our energy when we don’t have space to unpack what’s really going on.
But often, “I’m fine” isn’t about being fine at all. It’s about capacity. It’s about survival. It’s about not having the room to be fully honest in that moment.
Strength has never meant pretending nothing is wrong.
Sometimes strength is naming the truth in small, honest ways, even if it’s just one word at a time.
🤎 If you’re not “fine” today, you don’t have to force it.
Drop a single word that actually describes how you feel.
Burnout doesn’t always look like shutting down or stepping away.
Sometimes it looks like still showing up… still performing… still getting things done,
while feeling completely drained on the inside.
If that sounds familiar, I want to gently say this: you’re not burnt out because you’re weak.
Burnout often happens in high-functioning people who have been carrying too much for too long without enough support, rest, or release.
And over time, that can start to feel like emptiness behind the effort.
So instead of asking yourself to push through it, try asking something softer:
What have I been carrying that was never actually mine to hold?
🤎 If this resonates, save this for the days you forget to slow down.

You were never meant to carry survival mode forever.
For many people in marginalized communities, being strong wasn’t a choice, it was a necessity.
You learned to push through.
To keep going.
To take care of everyone else.
To carry stress, grief, uncertainty, and expectations without missing a beat.
But surviving isn’t the same as living.
Minority Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that your emotional well-being matters. Seeking support isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s an act of self-preservation, self-compassion, and healing.
You don’t have to wait until you’re overwhelmed to reach out.
If you’ve been considering therapy, I’d be honored to support you on your journey.

After emotionally heavy holidays like Father’s Day and for many, the emotional weight of Juneteenth, a lot of people notice they don’t feel like themselves.
You might feel tired, irritable, numb, or even surprisingly emotional for no clear reason.
And what I want you to know is this; your body is not overreacting, it’s responding.
Your nervous system doesn’t just ‘move on’ because the calendar changes. It processes after the moment has passed.
So if things feel heavier this week, it might not be random, it might be delayed emotional processing.
Pay attention to what your body has been holding.
If this resonates, take a moment to name what’s been sitting with you this week.
