How Strange to see you here!

This weekend hapax got to join in on 's The Strange Hour at SKAM Satellite Studio. Our founders, Heather and Chad, brought with them a presentation on how to make independent theatre... without being an as***le 😉

The Strange Hour is a strange and special variety show that brings together performers and presenters from across genres: drag, dance, stand-up, sustainability educators, culinary masters, you name it! Anything and all things are possible. You can also check out local vendors selling their art and their treats!

If you want to check out the next Strange Hour, you can catch them every 4th Sunday at the SKAM Satellite Studio at 11am. Maybe we'll see you there!

One minute you're loading into the theatre, and the next you're tearing down!

Thank you all so very much for joining us at Beside Myself. We're so glad to be in the qwiff where we get to do this show, with this team, for this audience.

and Thank you to our wonderful cast and creative team who put together such magic. The stories of connection we have received from our audiences have been a testament to the beauty and importance of live theatre and the catharsis it has the power to bring.

Check out below for an excerpt from director Heather Jarvie's closing message to hapax newsletter subscribers, and subscribe to our newsletter yourself (through the contact form on our website!) to get access to full messages from us and updates on everything we get up to.

From the desk of Heather Jarvie, artistic director of hapax theatre:

"We are so proud of the work that went into this show and our end result. We heard from someone in almost every audience about how we captured their own grief, how they saw their own losses on stage, but also saw joy. How they felt relieved to laugh, to cry, to witness our small attempt at capturing the roller coaster that is grief. The Beside Myself team worked hard to approach this script with the same kind of care and consideration that went into writing and to reflect back to our audiences our interpretation of loss and joy.

As a reminder, we are an entirely volunteer organization that pays our artists out of ticket & merch sales and whatever funding we’re able to eke out. If you want to wear your love of hapax theatre and the way that we show up in our community, head on over to our merch page or send us a note to see what we currently have in stock. (If you pick up something that we’ve already got on hand you get the bonus of seeing Heather and/or Chad’s face!)"
