A Women’s Movement Group is being re-ignited in Winnipeg and it’s all about YOU, Your Mom and Sisters!!

Soroptimist in the largest global network of volunteers. . . Well of course it is - it’s lead by Women!

We gather and stand for
• gender equality
•propelling women and girls into economic independence
•accelerating women's economic independence!

The approach is simple - through Education!
Why?……
Because education is the fastest route to equality.

Supporting individual women and girls’ education dreams!

We tackle the systemic barriers to education, like violence, period poverty, s*xual exploitation and more.

It is being done all over the world and it’s time for the Heartbeat of Canada to jump in - that is Us here in Centre Court!!!

information:

We have Global standing at the United Nations no less!!!
At the UN we have consultative status and can advocate all things Women! That is VERY important considering gender equality cuts across every issue we face.

One story is that of our “poster woman” for individual empowerment - Dawn Johnson. She was living on the streets, in active addiction, and a survivalist of s*x trafficking and teen parenthood. She always wanted to be a lawyer. Through the help of Soroptimist, she is now clerking at the BC Supreme Court!

Our Central Alberta club advocated so strongly for free period products in schools, that the Province announced they would be rolling it out across all of Alberta. We can now see this movement across all of Canada!

And if thats not enough to excite you….the N & W Vancouver club started the petitions that ultimately led to Canada changing its laws around prostitution to not charge the s*xually exploited women!

So who wants to know more and get on board?

What does Connection mean to you? What definition do you have for it?

Many people immediately think of work relationships and deeping the partnerships with their peers

A lot of people turn it more inward and speak to the family ties and generalltional link to their past and DNA.

Oxford’s definition is: a relationship in which a person, thing, or idea is linked or associated with something else.
"the connections between social attitudes and productivity"

The next time you hear someone studder, or see a person stumble, maybe even someone who appears deep in thought or crying a few tears behind their desk….

Pause a moment and consider do they have an inability to fire on all cylinders? Is there a possibility that a connection has been lost or decreased which presents symptons you may not be 100% familiar with?

Just putting it out there for
Stress Awareness Month, and hoping that all of the above become a part of your definition while expanding compassion and ensuring your connections are strong within YOUR CIRCLE

Spring has sprung, or at least it says so on the calendar. You may be slowly returning to work or simply stopping to smell the roses on a walk outside. Wherever you look, there are signs of hope and renewal associated with spring. Take this time to practice giving hope to yourself and others around you with these four pillars outlined for the National Month of Hope.
