Craving authentic Korean comfort food but worried your toddler will derail the vibe? Save this right now, because this spot is a total hidden gem for families.
When you’re craving a bubbling, piping-hot meal or savory grilled meats, a typical "kid joint" just isn't going to cut it. (📍 505 Terminal Ave N, Nanaimo, BC) delivers incredible, rich flavors for mom and dad, but the environment is so welcoming that you don’t have to feel tense.
We ordered Ttukbaeki Gamja-Tang with rice, Dwaeji Galbi, and the So Bulgogi Deopbap, which was absolutely perfect for sharing. Plus, the kids absolutely loved the mung bean sprouts! They’re fresh, mild, and the perfect side dish for the little ones. It’s the ultimate weekend comfort food win!

ꕤ Table for Three Scorecard ꕤ
🚪 ACCESS: There is a step up at the entrance, so be mindful if you’re bringing a stroller! We actually opted to leave ours in the car to make things easier inside.
🛋️ VIBE: Cozy, warm, and inviting. It feels like a neighborhood staple where you can actually relax.
🚼 FACILITIES: The washroom is all-gender and on the smaller side, so it's best for quick, straightforward trips rather than a major setup!
🦖 CHAOS TOLERANCE: The staff is incredibly kind and accommodating to families, and the general hum of a busy restaurant means a little toddler chatter blends right in.
WIND-DOWN SPOT: The cozy booth seating is great for keeping little ones contained, or you can head out for a quick post-meal stroll nearby to walk off all that amazing food.

Did you know that tomorrow is National Doughnut Day?! 🍩
And if you’re driving through Coombs, you legally cannot leave without stopping here. Save this for your next sugar craving!
Let’s be real: no road trip is complete without a massive, over-the-top donut. Billy G’s Doughnut Shop (📍 2310 Alberni Hwy, Coombs)/ is the ultimate treat stop for the whole crew. The donuts are huge, fresh, and exactly the kind of messy, delicious fun that makes a family drive memorable.
We grabbed our box and headed outside, because watching a toddler tackle a donut the size of their head is pure entertainment. It’s loud, it’s sticky, and it is 100% worth the stop!

🚪 ACCESS: Super easy to grab and go, but the line can get long during peak hours because everyone knows how good it is!
🛋️ VIBE: Fun, nostalgic, and absolutely buzzing with bakery-fresh energy.
🚼 FACILITIES: It’s more of a walk-up/quick-service counter, but you’re right in the heart of Coombs, so public restrooms and changing stations are nearby in the market area.
🦖 CHAOS TOLERANCE: 5/5: It’s a donut shop! Loud kids, sticky fingers, and pure excitement are totally expected here.
🌿 WIND-DOWN SPOT: Plenty of outdoor benches and green space nearby to sit down, let the kids burn off that sugar rush, and watch the Coombs traffic.
