We are excited and proud to observe the beginning of summer-long restoration process of our beloved guardian Foo Dogs by Ana Diaz-Drew. A master gilder and restorer, she will start next Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden. Learn and experience with us restoration and conservation of these magnificent pieces on the site.
Our welcoming Food dogs disappeared from the Garden around a year ago, but were returned. Now they are back and we want them at the Garden entrance. Our guardian lions (獅) are original Chinese artworks of the early 1960-s, traditionally are valued for their aesthetic beauty and symbolic protection of palaces and gardens. Since the pieces were returned to us with some signs of damage, such as cracks and missing pieces, Ana Diaz-Drew will restore them to their original aesthetic beauty.
The subsequent restoration sessions will be announced.
