Our trip to Japan was incredible. Highlights:
Geisha:
I happened to be strolling through Gion Kyoto on a street that allowed photographs, when I looked up to see a geiko (fully trained geisha) gliding past on her way to a party. Once in a lifetime moment.
It is a world not even the Japanese know as it is behind the veil. We are so lucky to have caught a glimpse.
Rock Garden:
We visited a rock garden in Kyoto where you can only see up to 14 stones at a time from all angles but there are 15 stones in total. It’s a reminder that human beings are not able to see everything and to leave room for the unkown.
They say if you spend enough time looking at the rock garden, it will give each person a special message. So beautiful.
Reflection:
I reflected a lot during this trip on who I am and how I fit into the world around me. I am now coming home with a better understanding of what I desire out of life. I learned a little bit of Japanese as I often wanted to say “Thank you” (Domo Arigato) and my manners improved as the Japanese people are so courteous.
