The inspiration for A Place Where I Belong began when director Rheanna Toy, a videographer in the community living sector for over a decade, was approached to film a short promotional video for Connecting Q***r Communities (CQC), a queer-led program for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

What began as a small project quickly revealed a bigger story. Rheanna began documenting the community on her own, spending months filming and building relationships before posAbilities, Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion (BACI), and Kinsight came on board to help complete the film.

At its heart, A Place Where I Belong is about joy, belonging, and sharing stories that too often go unseen 💜
