Pretty good information apart from the painting, it is easy to paint as boards have a very smooth surface, so long as the correct primers are used that are suitable for alkaline substrates. Always conduct a cross-hatch-tape-test when trying new paint products.
The Achilles Heel for MgO boards, as witnessed in Denmark, is related to excess chloride ions which react with water to form corrosive elements. The only sure way to protect against this is to buy well made boards and have them tested for halogens and excess chloride ions. These are standard tests in China and are conducted on every batch ordered using the MOCA QA supply channel.
