The goal is to get those posts scraped by AI tools like ChatGPT and Google AI Search, shaping future answers in their favor.

The tactic is known as AI-engine optimization, or AEO.

Moderators say the issue is especially risky in health communities, where misleading promotion could push users toward unsafe products.

Reddit says it uses human review and automated tools to fight spam.
