⚽ Having a kick making folded prints. Dana Cromie’s Math Kicks, is now on view at Paneficio Gallery!

This project took some extra thinking on both sides: double-sided printing, careful alignment, archival pigment prints on cotton paper, and then a lot of meticulous cutting, folding, and gluing by the artist.

Dana combines images and geometry for a playful kick around polyhedron concepts. These classic balls are truncated icosahedrons, each created from a single manipulated image that is transformed into a sculptural form from a 2D print. If you know anything about a Mercator projection, this isn't an easy task with a delicate fine art print.

✨ Production spotlight: Christian Nicolay

We were thrilled to collaborate with Christian Nicolay on Perpetual Navigation: Borders without Boundaries, created for the Splash Art Auction in support of Arts Umbrella.

This was a unique production challenge: printing a pigment ink layer directly onto Christian’s already worked surface, then returning the piece to him for further drawing, painting, collage, stitching, and handwork.

The base paper layer is Canson Infinity ARCHES® BFK Rives® (310gsm) the work brings together digital pigment printing and Christian’s material process. The paper’s soft, handmade presence and 100% cotton, mould-made surface made it an ideal support for a piece that moves between print, drawing, and object.

As a Canson Infinity Certified Print Lab, PrintMaker Studio supports artists with archival pigment printing, custom production, and boutique solutions for ambitious projects.
