How do you show your confidence?
Half of life is showing up I say, so how are you showing up? Having recently gone through the diagnosis process for my kids of ADHD, I found out that it is genetic.... and guess what?! Yup, I too am ADHD. The psychologist helped me understand that many of the strategies that I have used growing up were coping strategies for my neurodiverse thinking;
problem-solving
risk-taking
over- sharing
'multi- tasking' aka easily distracted.... the list goes ON and ON!
A big characteristic of ADHD is low self-esteem because of seeing the world through a different lens, it decreases our perception of how we see ourselves. Society's normal is different than many of us with ADHD, so that affects the way we show up.
Building confidence is a muscle, and it takes daily effort.
Some strategies that work with the big kids and us adults parallel;
Affirmations and the power of self-talk
Surrounding ourselves with high vibe, can do language and people
Reframing our thoughts
The art of the routine and benefits of self-discipline
and as you guessed it, the list for this also goes ON and ON!
The social community is a huge gift for neurodiverse thinkers, because it shows you that you belong and you aren't all those negative thoughts you once thought of about yourself.
However, what if you are neurotypical? Same principles apply.
Recipes work when you follow them, no matter the baker.
Would love to hear your strategies for showing up with confidence!
