I made a record: this is track 2.

It won’t be out for a while, but I wanted to begin sharing the lyrics.

I shared this song at a producer event a few years ago, and I was terrified it wouldn’t land — it was different from everything played that night.

But it did. And it gave me a much-needed confidence boost: to trust my ears and worry less about if people would get it.

It’s a song about how missing someone is often more about missing who we were at that time.

I think when we feel the pang of our young loves, mostly, what we are aching for is the openness of youth. That feeling that anything is possible. That things will get better. That we’ll find our way.

And how hard it is for some of us to hold onto that as we get older.
