405x5 on a “bad legs” day.

When I woke up this morning, my legs felt like they were filled with lead. Heavy. Weak. Sluggish. The kind of morning where even bodyweight squats felt like they were going to be a negotiation. So instead of forcing a PR, chasing ego, or pretending recovery doesn’t matter, I adjusted the plan. I lightened the load and hit 405 pounds for 5 comfortable reps. And honestly? Not bad considering how the day started.

This is the part of training that most people don’t talk about enough: not every workout needs to be a personal record. Not every squat session needs to be all-out. Not every heavy lower-body workout needs to be a war against the barbell. Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is respect what your body is telling you, reduce the load, focus on clean reps, keep the pattern sharp, and live to fight another day.

Progressive overload matters. Heavy squats matter. Strength training matters. But so does recovery, readiness, fatigue management, and knowing when to push versus when to pull back. If you want long-term strength, muscle, performance, and longevity, you can’t train like every session is a test. Sometimes the win is showing up, making the smart adjustment, getting quality work in, and coming back stronger next workout.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! 🎃 🎃🎃

Today marks the official end of my "90-Days to your Dream Body by Halloween Transformation Challenge!"

Last year, my Goal was to be a Lean & Mean Wolverine. This year, my goal for the Challenge was to bulk up and to put on some quality muscle mass to become a More Muscular Wolverine, and I am pleased to have successfully accomplished that Goal!

To everyone who signed up for the "90-Days to your Dream Body by Halloween Transformation Challenge," I would like to thank you for having the faith in me to guide you through this journey. You all KILLED it!!!
