Happy Pride! 🌈 Have you heard of these q***r animals?
🐿️ Red squirrels, native to British Columbia, often participate in same-sex behaviour outside of breeding season, which could include intimate activities and joint parenting
🐣Female Western gulls have also been known to incubate their eggs together, behaving just like heterosexual couples
🦎Whiptail lizards saw men and said no thanks! A female-only species, these lizards sometimes court each other and even mimic mating, even though they reproduce asexually.
🐧And same-sex penguins exist out in the wild too, even adopting abandoned eggs together 🥹 This isn’t just cute–it’s also helping to maintain the population health of their species!
More to come, because nature is full of sexual diversity. Stay q***r-ious 😉
Who knew trees were so fascinating? 🤯
Just like her alter ego Jack Aspen, has more tall tales to share – this time at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, home to over 600 species of tree. Join our next Field Trip as Jem helps us crack the code of bark and leaf among rare trees and strange seeds. We promise, you won’t look at trees the same way after this!
