♥️ Double decker plant hanger!

I made this awhile back and thought you all should see it again. Yes there is a free pattern 🤗

Actually…I made this to go in my kitchen window. I wanted to grow some fresh herbs in it but I never got around to doing that. I seem to always want to plant seeds when it’s the cooler seasons lol

Right now I have a spider plant hanging in that spot but maybe I should attempt to grow some herbs there instead…it’s definitely a warm sunny spot now 🤔

Witch’s Knot

The term “Witch’s Knot” is actually a relatively recent name for a much older design.

Throughout history, knots have often been viewed as magical and protective. Sailors used “wind knots,” mothers used protective cords that were hung over cradles (please don’t do this now), and even today we still refer to marriage as “tying the knot.”

Many cultures developed their own protective symbols. The Anishinaabe/Ojibwe people created dreamcatchers to protect sleeping children. In coastal areas fishing nets were sometimes hung in homes to help capture negative wandering spirits. In Europe, endless knots, rosettes, and other interwoven designs were carved into doorways, barns, beams, and fireplaces for protection. Labyrinths were used in very old mansions to confuse negative spirits…and traditional Chinese knotwork came to symbolize good fortune, longevity, harmony, and protection.

What fascinates me is how often the same idea appears: that complex patterns could confuse, delay, redirect, or trap harmful influences. Endless knots have no obvious beginning or end, making them powerful symbols of protection, continuity, and resilience.

There is no tutorial for this piece…I just wanted to share it.

It feels like a lot of bad fortune has fallen on my family recently. Some people might find it silly to hang a protective charm on a door, but I choose to believe in magic, symbolism, and hope. Sometimes when life gives you situations you can’t control, that’s all you can do: find meaning where you can, hold onto hope, and wish for better days ahead.

Stay safe ✨

⚾️ Sorry, tutorial will be late (hopefully later today). My son’s team is going to finals in the tournament 😄🎉 I’ve been busy cheering on all his games and just exhausted from the excitement. Only two more games and so far they are undefeated! Wish them luck for the trophy 🏆

…ANYWAYS…as you can see my next macrame tutorial will be this baseball keychain inspired by my son and his team. He’s actually using it on his backpack too so it’s 14 year old approved 😅 It also happens to be quick and easy to make, perfect for beginners. I’ll get it up on my channel as soon as possible 🤗
