I’ve been performing at this hidden speak easy bar in Toronto recently. It’s been a dream venue to perform in and the first regular ongoing magic gig I’ve had in years! I’ve already developed several different 15 minute close up sets with a deck of cards that I can perform depending on the type of audience I get.

There are two hidden rooms in this bar for performers, and the entertainment manager brings in a rotating audience throughout the night. This is the best way to perform magic!

Usually close up gigs have the magician wandering the room having to interrupt peoples conversations to show them magic. Which just feels like the magical experience we as performers try to create goes unappreciated in that type of setting.

But here I get to exist in one space as an audience is brought in, primed and ready for a mystical experience. I love it and cannot wait to develop more magic sets as I continue to hone my skills with a deck of cards 😇 I’m also so happy that I made the Leon cards because now I have an endless supply of cards to perform with yay 😁✨
